Sodium hyaluronate from fermentation 0.3 %.

Vismed® Gel eye drops are designed to relieve symptoms and signs of dry eye and/or ocular surface damage without restriction in regard to severity, due to diseases such as superficial keratitis, Sjögren syndrome or primary dry eye syndrome.

For sustained lubrication of the eyes in case of sensation of dryness, burning and ocular fatigue and other minor complaints of no pathological significance induced, for example, by dust, smoke, dry heat, air conditioning, wind, cold, extended computer screen use, contact lens wear or by ophthalmological screening methods.

Dosage and administration method

Wash your hands thoroughly before using VISMED® GEL.

Twist off the cap. Tilt the head backwards and position the tip of the container above the eye to be treated. Move the lower eyelid down with the forefinger of one hand. Press the container and one drop of VISMED® GEL will be released (see illustrations). If not otherwise recommended, instill 1 or 2 drops of VISMED® GEL onto the eye as often as needed. After blinking, the solution will disperse and form a transparent and long lasting coating on the surface of the eye. VISMED® GEL may also be used while wearing contact lenses (rigid or soft).

The properties of VISMED® Gel include:

II: VISMED® products increase tear-film break up time, and improve corneal and conjunctival epithelia integrity, Schirmer test score and ocular staining in patients with dry eye. 2,18–20 They also reduce corneal staining scores in patients with keratitis13 and Ocular Surface Disease Index scores in patients with glaucoma. 21

III: VISMED® products also have an excellent safety profile. 2,13–15,17,18,21 The most common side effects are local reactions and include irritation, erythema, foreign body sensation, burning sensation and hypersensitivity. 23

IV: Clinical studies have demonstrated that VISMED® products provide comfort for up to four hours following administration12, 15, 16 and reduce symptom frequency, including dryness, itchiness and burning.  2,13,17
